Man arrested after 13-year-old killed in Marysville

Two minors were also arrested at the scene for violating their probation

MARYSVILLE, Calif. — A 19-year-old man is in custody after a 13-year-old was shot and killed late Thursday night.

According to a news release from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday on the 6000 block of Gossett Way near the Shasta Glen Apartments.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He died from his injuries.

Shortly after, 19-year-old Gabriel Aguayo was arrested and booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Two other minors were arrested at the scene for probation violations.

Detectives are still trying to figure out a motive in the deadly shooting. Anyone with information can call the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office at 530-749-7777.
